I've made a pretty big find today. Stopping by the subrocket to pick up my paycheck I noticed the old dust covered 28.8 modem on the office desk and a new modem in its place. Stealthily I swiped the old modem for my home use - I hope I can get it working on my archaic machine at home. Maybe then my midnight updates won't be in such a confined and disgusting place. It's fucking cold. I walked over to the corner spot this morning and had breakfast with Jen and Steve. They drink wine with every meal. By the time I'd gotten there at 10:30am they'd already finished half a bottle. I helped them finish the rest of it and we sat around the house for a while, a little tipsy from the wine and warmth of their house. They asked me about ChI and if I'd heard from her yet. I said I hadn't but that I wondered when she would call. Jen said that klepto girl was over last night and had asked about me. Great - that's just what I need right now. I left their house around noon and walked to the park. I love the park on quiet days like this. There's no one around, and the cold and snow on the ground is a further deterrent to the skateboarders and punks who make noise and disturb old folks like me.. Ha! I walked around and smoked cigarettes, writing occasionally in my little book. After an hour of walking around, the bitter cold on my face and hands became too much. I decided to walk downtown and get a cup of coffee, check my email, and update this page. A few nice emails from people. I am not used to correspondance on the web with anyone but ChI and a few of my friends here who actually have computer access - so this is fairly bizarre to me. Also my guestbook was severly fucked up and I'm pretty sure I fixed it. I just talked to Klepto Girl and we're going to a movie tonight. That should be interesting - she's paying so how could I say no?? I'm not sure what we're seeing, it doesn't really matter to me. I'll take any chance I can get to escape reality for two hours and get out of the cold. Klepto girl gave me a cryptic note yesterday similar to the one ChI left me, though not quite as erotic (thankfully). I've kept it in my wallet - and the last line is puzzling me.. "Everfor what we make of this is after all the busying moment." *shrug* Who knows, who knows.... I'm off to spend the rest of my afternoon at home with warm cider and whiskey heated on the electric stove and trying to get this old modem to work.
